BY THE NUMBERS

WEST COAST IPA

When you brew a beer with Bale Breaker, you’d better bet the hops are going to shine! Surrounded by hop fields in the heart of Washington’s Yakima Valley, Bale Breaker is at ground zero for hop growing. They visited recently and brought two new experimental and very exciting hop varieties to the party, HBC692 and HBC630. We introduced these new beauties to some of our old friends –Amarillo, Comet, Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic – to create an IPA that is simply exploding with citrus, tropical fruit and stone fruit flavours and aromas – peach and tangerine especially. This beer is an absolute beauty. One sniff and you’ll be a fan for life.

NIGHT KITCHEN

PASTRY STOUT WITH PECANS

Take a trip to the Night Kitchen, where beer and food worlds collide. We take a full bodied milk stout, and judiciously layer flavour upon flavour to create a beer that is like dessert in a glass, while drinking like a well-balanced beer. Whole pecans, graham crackers, cinnamon bark, vanilla, cocoa and dark candi syrup blend to bring this decadent beer to life. Let it warm in your hands and capture all the delectable aromas wafting out, like steam from a pie. Try it with a wedge of pecan pie, throw in some ice cream for a boozy float, or just drink it on its own. Either way, you won’t be disappointed!

ABBOT

BELGIAN DUBBEL

We joined forces with the most wonderful guys and gals at Banded Peak Brewing to create the most wonderful of winter beers - a dark, luscious Belgian Dubbel called Abbot. This Trappist-style ale boasts dark rich plum and dried fruit notes, with a spicy yeast undertone. It has a wonderful malt complexity that really is quite heavenly. It's perfect for sipping on a cold day and pairs beautifully with rich, slow-cooked meats and stews.

SIMPLE PLEASURES

ENGLISH MILD

English mild ale is a throwback to a more simple time where people knew who they voted for and why, saw work as a wage rather than a lifestyle, and who chose their beer like they supported their sports team - because it was what you did and it wasn’t worth fussing over. Simple Pleasures is what we drink to take life back a notch or two. There’s a ton of flavour and aroma for such a light beer (3.8%), with notes of light chocolate, nuts, caramel, light roast, and raisin and plum fruit. It is a delightful shade of mahogany that makes you feel as though you drinking a proper pint. No pretension. No sensory assault. No gimmicks. Just a refreshing, flavourful malt-accented beer that is readily suited to drinking in quantity.

STYLE: Dark Mild Ale

LONG WHITE CLOUD

HAZY NZ PILS

We paired up with our good buds at Annex Ale Project in our very first collaboration and brewed our very first lager - the Long White Cloud Hazy New Zealand Pils. The name is a translation of Aotearoa, the Maori word for New Zealand. It has been smashed with bucketloads of NZ Waimea and Wakatu hops to create an eminently aromatic and alluring beer, with an enticing body and glorious appearance. It smells like New Zealand.

RUNAWAY

DOUBLE IPA

You’ve got to get away sometimes. Switch off your phone. Head for the hills. Breathe in freedom. Reconnect with those you love.

We’ve joined forces with Wild Rose Brewery – a group of friends who are very near and dear to us – to create our version of a “Cabin” in the “Wild” where we can pause, rewind and reflect on what we do and why we do it.

The beer is a big, bold West Coast-style hop monster with a balanced bitter bite. Think oranges, grapefruit, light stonefruit and a whiff of pine resin. This beer has heart and soul and all sorts of delicious aromas and flavours that keep on keeping on until the last drop.

It’s one to linger over with friends. It’s one to celebrate. It’s Runaway time.

LOST & WON

SCOTTISH WEE HEAVY

“When the hurlyburly’s done, When the battle’s lost and won.”

Lost & Won is a rich, complex and malty ale brewed to welcome in the darker, colder days. It is oh-so-smooth with gentle alcohol warmth that is perfect for sipping in front of the fire. It bursts with rich aromas of toffee and caramel, with underlying notes of banana bread, golden syrup, butterscotch and dried fruit. The Scottish ale yeast strain throws off some wonderful subtle fruity esters reminiscent of cherries and berries. Winter is coming, but so what? With this in your glass, every battle will be won.
